And the winner is...

The 2020 Business and Citizen of the Year were announced at the annual Banquet and award ceremony Saturday night to more than 40 guests at the MTC.

With a theme of "Off to the Races", the evening, after dinner of course, started with a "horse" race with Voy Cox announcing. Each table was graced with a die and a horse to be moved a certain number of squares on the stage steps and each numbered table cast the die after their correlating chip was drawn.

After this rousing start, the nominees for Citizen of the Year were called front and center.

Of the three who were nominated, including Cindy Mosteller, Ben Glenn and Monte Reichenberg, Reichenberg took the honor to much applause. Mosteller and Glenn were congratulated for their nominations and received certificates for their contributions as well.

Among the three nominees including Moorcroft Interfaith Community, Presbyterian Church and the Moorcroft Branch Public Library, the Moorcroft Interfaith Community was presented with the award for Business of the Year in recognition of the volunteer group's hard work for the community.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on John and Phyllis Queen. John recently passed away and Phyllis was unable to attend so son Tom and daughter Dee stood to receive the prize in their stead. Mr. Queen demonstrated great emotion for the recognition and promised to tell his mother of the community's appreciation.

Before the close of the evening, blue ribbons were given to Reichenberg for Best Dressed Gent, Jim and Cindy Mosteller for Best Dressed Couple and Mandi Giddeon for Best Hat at the party.
