Monday night’s regular meeting of Moorcroft’s town council was over within half an hour with conversation with MHS agriculture teacher Hugh Jenkins asking for a variance regarding the $3000 tap fee for the barn the school is planning to build south of the high school. The school will still be responsible for the cost of installing a meter pit and the water line from said pit into the building.
A couple of years ago, Jenkins came before the governing body requesting allowance of farm animals including sheep, cattle, goats and chickens in town limits for town kids who wanted to participate in livestock fair projects and was granted permission.
This allowance was and is specifically for the school.
While the structure is not yet in place, this teacher continues to facilitate the realization of this idea. The school board will entertain bids for construction Monday night, according to Jenkins.
