Pine Haven volunteers came together early Saturday morning to assemble and install the town’s newest acquisition, a playground slide for youngsters to enjoy for many years to come at Waters Park.
The town saved between $11,000 and $12,000 by installing the equipment themselves above the material cost of $29,855, according to Pine Haven Council member and liaison over the endeavor Kristi Speed.
The 20-person volunteer crew arrived Saturday morning, working diligently from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and was back on Sunday until 2:30 p.m. working under the guidance of Public Works Director Sunny Schell.
The first couple of hours entailed unwrapping the last of the components and setting in place the straight ground struts on which the entire set rests. As the weekend progressed, the play set slowly became a reality as everyone pitched in. Snacks and beverages were served throughout both days.
With only the concrete, tightening everything up, leveling the surrounding ground and laying down the wood fiber fill left to do, the new slide will be finished for the party on Friday, July 3, Speed smiled.
Moorcroft Leader would like to correct our article in last week’s issue, in which we called the equipment now installed at Waters Park a splash-pad. It is, in fact, a slide.
