Moorcroft Police Report

June 15 - 21

On June 15, police were notified of check fraud at a local business. Officer went to business and gathered all of the information pertaining to the fraud.

On June 16, police were contacted by a resident requesting them to come to their home. Upon arrival, officer was advised that a person inside the home had destroyed a room in the house. Due to the potential violent situation, officer set up a perimeter around the house. While doing so the suspect exited the home peacefully. Suspect was subsequently arrested for Destruction of Property and Domestic Assault. Suspect was transported to Crook County Detention Center without incident.

On June 16, police were contacted in reference to a Disturbance at Coffee Cup Fuel Stop. Upon arrival, officer was advised the subject had left prior to officer’s arrival.

On June 16, a subject entered Town Hall and began speaking loudly and using vulgar words towards Police and Police Clerk and based on his behavior he was trespassed from Town Hall for safety concerns.

On June 17, during a routine traffic stop for a stop sign violation driver was found to be driving on suspended license. Driver admitted to having a controlled substance in the vehicle which provided probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search a second controlled substance was found in the vehicle and the vehicle was also found to be stolen out of Mount Lake Terrace, WA. Driver was arrested for the stolen vehicle, the possession of controlled substances and driving under suspension. Driver was transported to Crook County Detention Center without incident.

On June 17, police received a complaint of an animal disturbing the peace. Officer will contact the owner of the dog and advise them of the ordinance pertaining to animals disturbing the peace.

On June 17, police received a complaint of solicitors going door to door attempting to sell jewelry. Officer made contact with the solicitors and advised them they could not sell door to door.

On June 19, police assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol with traffic control for an oversized load.

On June 19, police received a report of a vicious animal in the area of North Yellowstone. Officer located the animal and the animal’s owner. Owner was issued a citation for Dog at Large and Vicious Animal.

On June 19, police received a welfare check on a person who was said to be suicidal and possibly armed. Officers contacted the subject who was not armed and said that everything was fine. Officers were unable to find any reason to believe otherwise. Officers cleared.
