Crook County Senior Services (CCSS) local representative Dee Gray approached Moorcroft’s governing body Monday night to advocate a mill levy that had been approved and fulfilled two years ago and is again on the ballot this year.
Moorcroft, which had previously become independent of the CCSS, has recently rejoined the Sundance based company that, while not affiliated with government in any capacity, works with senior centers throughout Crook County. Moorcroft’s seniors are able to avail themselves of meals delivered to their door, a van to get them to doctor visits and other assistance paid for by the many grants for which the company applies and receives.
“It’s a service that we really need,” Gray explained, “and we need the mil levy to help pay for it.”
Gray was informed by Mayor Dick Claar of the legal restrictions on the municipal government publicly advocating any pact, but he said that he personally will support the seniors in this way.
This mil levy will appear on the general election ballot. If the mil levy passes this election, it will be active for four more years.
