The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
A small group of Pine Haven residents came together in February to discuss the possibility of instigating a senior center and to better determine whether the town would support a senior center of their own. The group decided to start judiciously by asking Keyhole Country Club to lease a room one day a week for the enterprise over the remaining winter season; with the issue of cost, this plan was not found to be feasible.
However, with the building that formerly housed the Vineyard Church coming up for sale, the town decided to purchase and repurpose the structure to house two separate centers, both under the auspices of the town, community and senior.
During the May meeting of the Pine Haven Council, Councilman John Henle brought his fellows up to date on the fledgling senior center and received approval for a senior committee as well as appointing officers.
Henle suggested two individuals who are interested to stand on the senior committee: Chris Bingum, who was appointed the office of chairperson, and Emily Smith, who now holds the office of Secretary/Treasurer with Henle as council liaison. While only two people are on the committee right now, Henle assures, “There are more coming.”
The senior committee of and for seniors has no affiliation with the recreation board that runs the community center.
