Moorcroft Police Report

April 13 - 19

On April 13, police were requested to go out to Country Lane to search a certain area for someone calling 911. Multiple calls and hang ups were coming in to Dispatch. Officer searched the area and spoke to residents and was unable to find anyone in need of assistance. Officer cleared.

On April 15, police provided backup for Wyoming Highway Patrol and assisted in a drug search on a vehicle.

On April 16, police were contacted in reference to an abandoned vehicle on private property. Officer advised complainant of the statute that outlined the legal procedure on how to remove an abandoned vehicle.

On April 16, police were contacted in reference to a 911 call coming from the area of Cheyenne Ave and Goshen St, near the construction project. Officer went to the area and spoke with the workers. One of the workers accidently dialed 911 with phone in pocket. Nothing further.

On April 17, police were called in reference to a possible domestic taking place on Rush Creek Road. Upon arrival, officer made contact with the male subject who then got into his work truck and fled the scene. Officer followed suspect and advised all area law enforcement that the suspect was headed toward Gillette. Suspect was located in Campbell County and fled from law enforcement. While fleeing, the suspect’s vehicle went off road and rolled. Suspect was taken into custody and transported to Campbell County Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

On April 17, police were requested by WHP to a traffic complaint on Highway 14. Caller stated there were motorcycles crossing the highway from a private driveway, back and forth and was concerned they would be hit by a vehicle as there is a sharp corner there making it hard to see them. Officer was unable to find any motorcycles in the area. Officer cleared.

On April 18, police were contacted in reference to a traffic crash at Subway. No injuries and no citations issued.

On April 18, police were contacted in reference to animals disturbing the peace. Officer made contact with the owner of the animals and owner advised they would keep them quiet.

On April 18, police received a welfare check on a resident. Officer contacted the resident, and all was well. Nothing further.

On April 18, police received a report of vehicle, possibly involved in turkey poaching, headed toward Moorcroft on Highway 14. Officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop for speeding, 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. Officer cited the driver for speeding and took a turkey and shotgun into evidence for Game Warden.
