Going into the second month of self-quarantine and public restrictions, for Public Works Directors Cory Allison of Moorcroft and Sunny Schell of Pine Haven, work goes on as usual to a great degree. These are part of the towns’ infrastructure and integral to maintaining the water and sewer.

The first phase of the Powder River Water Project started Monday afternoon. Hot Iron Construction is replacing waterline from Goshen, north along Park, looping around to meet again with Goshen and Powder River Avenue.
Allison assures the residents on that route that, while the roadway will be closed to traffic, they will have access to their homes throughout the project and garbage pickup will not be interrupted. “We’re just going to get it hammered out with as few complications as we can.”
This work is anticipated to reach completion within 90 days.

Schell is currently busy cleaning culverts and drainages from the winter runoff as well as repairing any snow damage to the town’s roadways for the spring. She is planning ahead to ensure she has the time to install the new playground equipment in Waters Park for the summer: “It’s got three slides and monkey bars and we need to make time to get that in when it gets here.”
