The Moorcroft Town Council met for an informal “retreat” Saturday to discuss projects that they would like to see started or completed in the 2020/2021 fiscal year that starts in July.
According to Mayor Dick Claar, of the more than ten projects being held by public works for funding, the three projects on the top shelf include the drainage issue on South Cheyenne, starting work on the lagoon and the need to find grants to help the town install ADA-approved restrooms and a splash pad at Noonan Park.
Discussion was also held about the responsibility the town has in accordance the property owners to install ADA curbing on the sidewalks at intersections and corners. The town ordinances will be examined in the near future because “it’s going to need to be done”.
The town still has on hand a portion of the last ascribed third specific tax moneys available and hopes to utilize that as part of the funding for improvements as well.
The mayor advocates the practice of the retreat: “It kind of brought the projects where we could think about them and talk about them. I’d like to do this again in a couple of months so we know where our money is going a little better.”
