Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Monday was the birthday of the world famous Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel). Seuss was born in 1904 and wrote most of his well-known children’s books during the 1950s, teaching kids with wit and wonder, principals to last a lifetime.

Almost 29 years after his death, his birthday is still recognized and to celebrate this event, many MK8 students from junior kindergarten to eighth grade donned hats of every description, proudly displaying their Cat in the Hat spirit.

Fifth grader Caysen Phillips produced a fine top hat riding on a fishing cap, quite striking over the heads of pretty much everyone in the lunchroom. Caysen couldn’t really pin down why he chose this hat set, but said of Hat Day, “It’s fun.”

First grader Tevis Davis sported black cowboy hat accented with a feather as he walked along the hall, headed back to his class room. Tevis said that the reason he chose this hat was, “I kind of like it.”

Junior kindergartners William Huether and DaVera Williamson wore their Cat in the Hat head dressage with flair. Young Mr. Huether spoke to their choice in headwear, “Because it was his birthday.”
