Hailey Jones signed a letter of intent with the University of Wyoming Monday afternoon. The athlete has run track throughout her years in high school.
“The coaches said they’d been watching me ever since I started high school,” she says.
She will be running cross country and track for the college for a scholarship. The university’s recruiters reached out to Jones and she met her fellow runners on an official visit earlier in the month.
“I got to spend time with them and they’re all pretty awesome. I’m so excited, I can’t wait!” Jones says.
Mary Hunter, Moorcroft High School’s track coach, has worked with Jones throughout the athlete’s high school career, and says, “It could not have happened to a better kid. She’s worked hard and has run many a mile. This is her hard work paying off.”
Jones graduates in May and plans to get a business degree before going on to sports physical therapy.
