Nancy Diane Richards, 88 of Sundance, Wyoming, died on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Crook County Memorial Hospital in Sundance.
Nancy was born on December 5, 1931 to Howard “Dud” and Beulah “Boo” (Kester) Steele in New Albin, Iowa. She married Joseph Loren Richards on April 23, 1948, in New Albin.
They were married for 71 years. They were blessed with three children, Alan, Loren and Tracy.
Nancy and Joe made their home in Decorah, Iowa and Sundance. Nancy was employed by DECO Products, Wapsie Produce and the Decorah Legion in Decorah and the State of Wyoming in Sundance, for 31 years.
Nancy loved to cook, garden, go fishing, camping, hunting, read, watch football, do crossword puzzles and enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. She made 14 trips with Joe to Alaska where they spent much of their time fishing in Ketchikan.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Joe; son, Alan (Linda) Richards of Sundance and their children, Travis of Laramie, Wyoming and Amber of Aurora, Colorado; son, Loren (Chris) of Laramie and their children, Dustin “Dusty” (Haley) of Laramie and Brittany (Alex) Board of Broomfield, Colorado; daughter, Tracy (Leland) Treichel of Roscoe, South Dakota and their children, Jeremy “Jake” (Shoshana) Treichel, U.S. Coast Guard, Retired of Mobile, Alabama and Christel (Brian) Kellar of Casa Grande, Arizona; seven great-grandchildren, Drake, Tairyn and Kayhle Richards, Charles “Charlie” Board and Micayla, Leo and Lincoln Kellar; and sister-in-law, Edwina Steele of New Albin.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Steele on March 17, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Sundance United Methodist Church in Sundance. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
