Moorcroft Police Report

January 6 - 26

On January 6, police were contacted in reference to theft of an iPad. Officer met with the property owner and received all the information on the iPad. Investigation will continue on possible theft until leads are exhausted.

On January 6, police were contacted to do a welfare check on a possible suicidal female. Officer arrived on scene and spoke with the female’s son who was the one that called law enforcement. Officer spoke with the subject who stated she had taken 22 pills. Officer gave a courtesy ride to Campbell County Hospital ER and son followed.

On January 7, officer made contact with the mother of a young female who was starting to exhibit stalking and harassing behavior and advised her of the complaint. Mother advised she understood and would speak with her daughter about her behavior.

On January 7, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service on an emergency call.

On January 7, police observed a male stumbling down East Converse Street in the roadway appearing to be intoxicated. Officer made contact with the subject who was intoxicated and also had marijuana on his person. Suspect was subsequently arrested for Pedestrian Under the Influence of Alcohol Walking Upon a Highway and Delivery of a Controlled Substance Schedule One. Suspect was transported to Crook County Detention Center without incident.

On January 9, police were contacted in reference to a suspicious person at a residence knocking on doors and windows at approx. 9 p.m. Suspect stated they were attempting to deliver a package and complainant said they were not wearing any type of delivery company uniform and driving a small passenger car. Officer searched the area and was unable to find a vehicle matching the description of the suspicious vehicle.

On January 10, police were contacted regarding a REDDI Report. Officer was unable to locate the vehicle driving.

On January 11, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service on an emergency call.

On January 12, police were contacted by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office requesting that I check on a male at the Shipwheel railroad crossing. Dispatch advised someone reported a man standing on the tracks. Officer was able to make contact with the man and identify him. He stated he worked for a railroad company and he was just waiting around to watch some trains pass by. Officer cleared call.

On January 12, police assisted Moorcroft Ambulance Service on an emergency call.

On January 13, police received a request for a welfare check. Officer attempted to locate the person in town but was unable to locate.

On January 13, police assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol in locating a traffic crash on I-90 near the 152 mile marker. Vehicle was heavily damaged. Officer stayed on scene until WHP arrived then returned to town.

On January 13, officer assisted Crook County Sheriff’s Office locate a male subject who was wanted on a Crook County warrant.

On January 14, police received an alarm call from Dispatch. Officer was advised it was a false alarm and cancelled. Officer responded and checked the area and all was fine.

On January 15, police received a call that there was a structure fire on Rush Creek Road. Fire and Ambulance responded also.

On January 16, police were called in reference to a man at Coffee Cup asking for help. Officer arrived and spoke with the man about the problems he was having.

On January 19, police were called in reference to a possible attempted break in at a local business.

On January 20, police received a call from a male who wanted to report someone harassing him and making death threats. Officer responded and spoke with the complainant about the incident and his options.

On January 20, police received a call from a resident who wanted to come speak with an officer about his mother giving away his money. Officer spoke with the individual and it was determined that the complaint was not accurate. Nothing further at this time.

On January 26, while conducting a traffic stop for speeding it was determined that both parties in the vehicle were in violation of a protection order. During consent to search a vape pen with suspected marijuana was located. Driver was arrested for Violation of a Protection Order and passenger was arrested for Violation of a Protection Order and Possession of a Controlled Substance liquid form.
