The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Miles City, MT this past weekend to wrestle in the 62nd Annual Cowboy Invitational tournament. There, the team placed fifth out of 27 teams from across Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.
They came back with two champions, an outstanding wrestler award and many placers. Individual results were:
Champions: 145 Parker Seeley went 5-0, pinning his opponent in the finals with five seconds left in 5:55 to take the championship. 182 Rowdy Pfeil went 5-0 to make the finals, where he won by decision, 5-1. Rowdy was also voted and awarded the most outstanding wrestler for the tournament. Both Parker and Rowdy tied for seventh place in the tournament for the most team points with 30.
Fourth Place: 285 Parker Schlater went 5-2 in the tournament, losing in the quarterfinals by decision. From there he wrestled his way back to the placing rounds where he lost by decision, 3-2, to place fourth. Parker also placed third in the tournament for the most pins in the least amount of time with four pins in 5:01 and fifth place for the fastest pin in 0:17.
Fifth Place: 120 Mica Herrera went 4-2, losing in the semifinals and wrestling back to the placings where he lost by decision, 7-3, to place fifth. 182 Dekken Mayer went 5-2, losing in the quarterfinals by decision and coming back to the placing rounds where he won with a pin in 2:45.
Seventh Place: 170 Wyatt Peters went 4-2, losing in the quarterfinals and wrestled back to the placing rounds where he won by pin in 0:41.
Eighth Place: 152 Darrian Black went 3-3, winning his matches with a pin, a major decision and in sudden victory, 8-6.
As a team for the varsity tournament, the Wolves placed fifth out of 27 teams behind first place Billings Skyview, second place Billing West, third place Billings Senior and fourth place Miles City.
The junior varsity individual tournament results were:
Champions: 152 Dakota Tobin, who won all of his matches by pin to take the championship.
Second Place: 145 Gavin Reynolds, who went 2-1, winning both of his matches by pin.
Third Place: 132 Richie Allison.
Fourth Place: 113 Tucker Cook and Wyatt Jarman.
Fifth Place: 126 Jacob Anderson.
Up next for the Wolves wrestling team is a home triangular between Moorcroft, Custer and Glenrock this Friday, January 17 starting at 5 p.m. at the high school. It will begin with Custer dualing Glenrock followed by Moorcroft vs. Custer and Moorcroft vs. Glenrock.
