At last week’s meeting, Public Works Director Sunny Schell discussed with the Pine Haven Town Council an issue with the town’s garbage pick-up contractor, Victory. The company’s trucks are driving too close to the edge of the pavement, closer than the contractually mandated ten inch safeguard, she said, actually “pushing” and breaking the asphalt and damaging the streets.
Schell told the council that she has communicated the problem to Victory repeatedly without resolution. “We’re going to go around and make a list of the damage they’ve done. You’re going to have to enforce that, per their contract,” she said.
“We need to get on that right away,” Pine Haven Mayor Bill Cunningham agreed. He and his council discussed writing a letter and/or speaking personally with the company regarding this issue.
