The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Last week, Bring Our Troops Home Wyoming, a veteran-run nonprofit, released plans for a statewide tour to build grassroots support across the state of Wyoming. Late last month, the organization, which focuses on putting a stop to the “endless wars” in the Middle East, kicked off its campaign in Laramie by partnering with the University of Wyoming to donate 100 UW football tickets to veterans and active duty military on Military Appreciation Day.
Now the group plans to take their message state-wide to raise awareness among the public. The group was founded by Wyoming State Representative Tyler Lindholm (R-Sundance) earlier this year.
Lindholm, a U.S. Navy veteran who recently authored a commentary published in multiple newspapers across the state, has also launched a website – WyBringOurTroopsHome.com – to press Representative Liz Cheney, a member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, to support President Donald Trump’s call to withdraw U.S. troops from already ongoing war zones in Afghanistan and Syria.
“The last thing the American people need or want is yet another escalation and expansion of the already endless wars that our troops have been fighting now for nearly two decades” said Lindholm.
Bring Our Troops Home Wyoming has been mentioned in multiple local and national news outlets including the Washington Examiner, Washington Post and The New York Times.
With Monday marking the 18th anniversary of U.S. troops being deployed to Afghanistan, the non-profit is holding several public screenings of “An Endless War? Getting Out of Afghanistan”, an independent film focused on the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Featuring former commanding officers of the US military, combat veterans, political analysts and peace activists, this documentary deconstructs the reasons why the war has failed and has dragged on for so long.
It also offers solutions on how the United States can exit Afghanistan. Bring Our Troops Home Wyoming has announced screenings in Casper, Riverton and Lander this week.
