The Voice of the Community Since 1909, Serving Moorcroft and Pine Haven, Wyoming
Pine Haven Days started with a free pancake breakfast for the community sponsored by the Pine Haven Council at the fire hall Saturday morning. Mayor Bill Cunningham and volunteer fireman Don Lancaster served pancakes, sausages and coffee to only about 30 people, according to the mayor, who expressed his disappointment with the turn out.
Many more attended the parade and fish fry later in the afternoon with an estimated 200-plus lining up for lunch. Among the many participants in this year’s parade, Grand Marshals John and Tracy Jones hit the line up in a big green tractor with John behind the wheel and Tracy throwing candy to the crowd; this couple has lived in Pine Haven for 26 years and is recognized for their compassion for anyone in need.
Event organizer Sarah Lewis said that, while the parade went well, “I’d like to see more community participation and involvement next year so we can have a larger and more positive turn out.”
The fish fry, sponsored by the Northeastern Wyoming Walleye Association (NWWA) served more than 200 guests who relaxed and enjoyed an afternoon of conversation, good food and opportunities to win a couple of Traeger grills before walking over to the tent dance that entertained until midnight.
