Moorcroft public works has started the sand bottomed volleyball pit at Robinson Park. The "pit" will be installed on the east side of the bathrooms, near the play set. In previous years, those who wanted to play ran a net along the northwest corner of the park, perpendicular to South Big Horn Avenue.
According to public works director Cory Allison, the maintenance crew will bed in gravel and sand, finishing work, weather permitting, "in a couple of weeks."
Mayor Dick Claar said that the entire project will cost less than $8000 and will be taken from the third specific tax funds.
The mayor reports that the next item on his agenda for the parks is a splash pad. If, he says, "we can find a company that will come in and give us some options ..." He hopes to work with the third specific and/or grants to facilitate the water feature, possibly breaking ground later this year.
