Arlyce Gimbel

Arlyce Gimbel, 77, Eureka, SD, died Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Graveside services was at Hoffnungstal Cemetery near Eureka led by Pastor Ryan Gage.

Arlyce Mae Jeschke, daughter of Golda (Semmler) and Reuben Jeschke, was born east of Roscoe, SD on July 21, 1941. She attended rural school through eighth grade and Roscoe High School, graduating with the RHS Class of 1959.

She then moved to Rapid City, SD and took a job with the Rapid City Credit Bureau. She married Ludwig "Lew" Gimbel at Rapid City on November 23, 1963. Lew's job with road construction caused the family to move frequently throughout Wyoming and Arlyce commonly took secretarial jobs at lending institutions.

They moved from Wyoming to Arizona in 1988. In 1998, they moved to Eureka where Arlyce lived the rest of her life.

Arlyce was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and the DAV Auxiliary. Her hobbies throughout her life included reading, crocheting, and crossword puzzles.

Arlyce is survived by her daughter, Lona (Doug) Tracy, of Moorcroft; her sister, Yvonne Rau, of Eureka; two grandchildren: Christopher and Jessica; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lew, on September 1, 2012; her father, Reuben, on December 14, 2006; her mother, Golda, on October 24, 2014; and her brother, DeWayne, on August 20, 2008.

Casketbearers will be Todd Rau of Eureka, Scott Rau of Java, SD, Doug Tracy of Moorcroft, Christopher Tracy of Midwest City, OK, Brian Granum of Volga, SD and Mike Heiser of Parkers Prairie, MN.

Honorary casket bearer will be her nephew, Brad Rau, of Java.
