In last week’s issue, article “VFW closes”, first paragraph, the Moorcroft VFW Post should read #8473.
In the May 9 issue in the caption about welcome baskets, Pat Heinz didn’t deliver the baskets but she did purchase items for the baskets. Rod and Mary Hancock, Ann Ferrell and Georgia Henle delivered the baskets.
In the “Temporary digs” article on the front page of last week’s issue it was said that the bank-owned buildings along the west side of North Bighorn Avenue has already been deeded to Moorcroft. In fact, the bank is willing to deed the property to the town; however, the town is considering another option on the table, a third party contractor who may be willing to take the property and demolish the buildings, paying the town for dumping the refuse at the landfill.
Mayor Dick Claar stated, “[Because of] the liability of tearing it down, we’d like to see the contractor take it over and just leave the town out of it.” He reiterated the council’s position that “if we don’t have to be in the property business, there’s no reason to be in it.”
About the VFW property, though, he said, “You don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, you just take it.”
