MHS Woods 1 teacher Travis Santistevan and his Career Technical Education (CTE) class have created a couch table to be auctioned off in Newcastle.
"I was approached by "Smokey" Mark Stenson and Connie Tooman to find out if my class and I would be able to make an item for a benefit auction to help Weston County Search and Rescue and we were more than happy to do so," he says.
Santistevan explains how this project helped his students.
"The range of levels varies in this class a lot and at the beginning of the year, this was a level one class, but more advance students were added in the second semester," he says.
"The level one class all had to build a table similar to this as their first project. This table has them use almost every tool a woodworking beginner would use every day in the shop."
"We added a little decoration to the tables with our new laser engraver that was purchased with the help of Perkins fund," he concludes.
"We decided a picture for the table, being in Northeast Wyoming, should have Devils Tower and of course the iconic bucking horse to help make this piece unique for them."
