Moorcroft Police Report

March 4 - 10

On March 5, police were called to Moorcroft High School to meet with the principal and a student who had brandished a knife toward another student. Officer made contact with the principal, suspect, victim and witnesses and took statements. Officer placed suspect under arrest and transported them to the YES house in Gillette without incident.

On March 6, police were called by Moorcroft K8 in reference to a student in possession of tobacco. Officer met with student, parents and school counselor regarding the situation.

On March 6, officer accompanied Crook County Sheriff’s Office while they took the K-9 through the Moorcroft High School.

On March 8, police were notified of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Riley Ave. Officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who stated they were in the area observing a crew working for Black Hills Energy. Driver was able to provide ID cards confirming his story. Nothing further.

On March 9, police were notified of a hit and run in the area of Tongue River Ave. A vehicle struck a chain link fence in the front yard of a residence. Officer took photos of damage and tire tracks.

On March 9, police conducted 85 Portable Breath Tests for Moorcroft Prom at the request of the high school.

March 11-17

On March 11, police assisted Moorcroft Fire Department with a lift assist at a residence in town.

On March 12, police unlocked a vehicle for a teacher who had locked their keys in their car.

On March 15, police assisted Fire and EMS volunteers during a water line break at the Fire Hall.

On March 16, officer assisted Crook County Sheriff’s Deputy on a suspicious person call.
