SEVENTH STATE VICTORY!

The Wolves wrestling team competed in the Wyoming High School Athletic Association state tournament this past weekend in Casper at the event center. They qualified 16 wrestlers in their fight to continue their six-time straight state championship title since 2013 by making it number seven.

They did just that, winning the Class 2A state championship as a team with six making it to the semifinals. Four of those made it into the finals and ending with ten total placers.

They came out strong and wrestled tough throughout the tournament never giving up their first place.

Individual results for the wrestlers were:

106 Tyzer Isenberger won by pin his first match, lost by fall his second match, won by pin in 1:28 in the consolation round 2 and lost by fall in the consolation round 3 to put him one round out of the placings.

106 Sean Buckmiller quickly pinned his way into the semifinals in 0:37 and 0:23 where he again pinned his opponent from Lingle-Ft. Laramie in 4:31 to advance him into the finals. There, he lost by fall at the end of the third period to place second.

113 Mica Herrera won by pin in 0:43 in round 1 and won by major decision, 13-2 in round 2 to advance into the semifinals where he lost to move him into the consolation semifinals. There, he won by decision, 8-2 to move him into the placing round where he lost by decision, 2-0 to place fourth.

113 Jacob Anderson had to medically forfeit due to an injury from regionals.

120 Randy Peters lost by fall in round 1, then came back to win his next three matches in the consolation rounds to advance him to the consolation semifinals where he lost by decision to move into the placings. There, he fought through the whole match to win by decision, 6-4 to place fifth.

120 Charmayne DeLong won her first match by pin in 1:21 to move to the quarterfinals where she lost by fall, she then won in the consolation round 2 by pin in 0:26 and lost in the consolation round 3, putting her out one round before placing.

126 Lloyd ONeill lost his first match by fall and lost in the consolation round to put him out of the placings.

132 Caleb Cook pinned his way into the semifinals with a pin in 0:21 and 3:15 where he lost by decision to move him into the consolation semifinals. There, he won with a pin in 4:44 to move him into the placings where he won by pin in 4:51 to place third.

138 Parker Seeley won his first match by pin in 0:30 and his second match by pin in 1:18 to advance into the semifinals where he won by major decision, 9-1 to move him into the finals. There, he lost by decision, 11-4 to place second.

145 Darrian Black won his first match by pin in 1:34, lost in the quarterfinals by decision and went on to win his next two consolation matches to advance him to the consolation semifinals. There, he lost by decision, 7-5 to move into the placings where he lost by fall to place sixth.

145 Sterling Norris lost his first match by fall to move him to the consolation rounds where he lost to take him out of the placings.

152 Hunter Garoutte won with a pin in 3:19 to move him to the quarterfinals where he lost by decision, 5-3. In the consolation rounds 2 and 3, he won by pins to advance him into the consolation semifinals. There, he lost by decision, 4-0 to move him into the placings where he lost by decision, 7-4 to place sixth.

160 Dekken Mayer won his first match by pin in 1:22, but lost in the quarterfinals by decision, 4-2. He came back to win consolation round 2 by pin and round 3 by decision to advance him into the consolation semifinals where he lost by decision, 5-3 to move him into the placings. There, he won with a pin in 4:38 to place fifth.

170 Wyatt Peters won by pin his first match and lost in the quarterfinals by decision. He came back and won his consolation round 2 by pin in 2:07 and lost in round 3 to take him out of the placings.

182 Rowdy Pfeil had a bye and then won by major decision in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. There, he won by pin in 4:41 to make the finals where he lost by fall to place second.

195 Parker Schlater pinned his way to the semifinals in 1:27 and 1:11 where he won with another pin in 1:04 to advance into the finals where he lost by decision to place second.

As a team, the Wolves won Class 2A, making it their seventh straight team title with 185.0 points over second place Kemmerer with 181.0 and third place Glenrock with 155.0 team points. High scorers for the Wolves were: Sean Buckmiller and Parker Schlater both with 24 points followed by Parker Seeley with 23 team points.
