Wrestlers dominate duals

The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Greybull on Friday to wrestle in the Greybull Duals. There they had duals against Greybull, Wind River and Lovell. The team dominated each dual, closing out both Greybull and Wind River.

Moorcroft vs. Greybull: 63-0

106 Sean Buckmiller started the dual off with an open; 113 Mica Herrera won with a pin in the first period in 1:44; 120 Randy Peters won with an open; 126 Charmayne DeLong won by decision, 9-4; 132 Caleb Cook won by decision, 5-4 to bring the dual score to 24-0.

Up next was 138 Parker Seeley, who won in the first period with a pin in 1:03; followed by 145 Darrian Black, who dominated his match with a score of 13-4, but ultimately pinned his opponent in the third period in 5:17; 152 Hunter Garoutte, who, having just started his season due to an injury, won with a pin in 3:26 to bring the dual score to 42-0.

160 Dekken Mayer also dominated his match scoring 16-6 and pinning his opponent in the third period at 5:38 for the win; 170 Wyatt Peters won with an open; both teams were open at 182; 195 Rowdy Pfeil quickly went for the win, pinning his opponent in 1:30; 220 Parker Schlater won by decision, 6-1; and both teams were open for 285, ending the dual with a shutout score of 63-0.

Moorcroft vs. Wind River: 12-0

Only two matches were wrestled in this dual due to Wind River’s opens. 145 Darrian Black won with a pin in 1:21 and 182 Wyatt Peters won with a pin in 1:23 to end the dual 12-0.

Moorcroft vs. Lovell: 43-22

106 Sean Buckmiller lost by fall in the second period; 113 Mica Herrera quickly won with a pin in the first period in 1:09; 120 Randy Peters lost by fall; 126 Charmayne DeLong got hurt in the first period and had to injury default the match, bringing the score to 6-18, Lovell.

Up next was 132 Caleb Cook, who won by decision, 10-2; followed by 138 Parker Seeley, who won with a pin in 0:27; 145 Darrian Black won with an open; 152 Hunter Garoutte won with a pin in 2:54 to bring the dual score to 28-18, Moorcroft.

160 Dekken Mayer lost a tough match after battling the whole three periods by decision, 5-15; 170 Wyatt Peters won by decision, 9-5; 182 Rowdy Pfeil won with a pin in 1:40; 195 Parker Schlater won with a pin in 1:12; and both teams were open for 220 and 285, ending the dual with a score of 43-22, Moorcroft.

Next up for the Wolves wrestling team is the Powder River Conference Duals in Sundance this Thursday, February 7, starting at 11:30 a.m. There will be five duals consisting of the teams from Moorcroft, Hulett, Wright, Sundance and Tongue River.

The Wolves will also be traveling to Saratoga this Friday and Saturday to wrestle in the Saratoga tournament. There, they will get the chance to see the other side of the state in their preparation for the state tournament coming up.
