Two champions come home from Hettinger

The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Hettinger, ND to wrestle in the Hettinger Classic Tournament this past Friday and Saturday. With 18 teams participating, the Wolves, with 15 wrestlers, came home with a second place finish as a team, two champions, three runners up and many placers.

Individual placers were:

Champions - 113 Mica Herrera, who won with five pins and one decision including winning with a pin in the finals in 4:48; 138 Parker Seeley, who won with six total pins including his finals match in 1:19.

Second Place - 170 Wyatt Peters, who pinned his way to the semifinals, where he won by decision, 12-6 to advance into the finals, where he lost by decision; 182 Rowdy Pfeil quickly pinned his way to the finals with pins in 0:49, 0:12, 0:26, 1:59, and 2:38 to advance into the finals, where he put up a good fight, but lost by decision, 1-5; 195 Parker Schlater advanced into the finals with five pins and one decision wins to be controlling the finals match, but got caught and lost by fall.

Third Place - 126 Lloyd O'Neill, winning his placing match with a pin in 1:47; 160 Dekken Mayer, winning his match by decision 11-9.

Fourth Place - 132 Caleb Cook.

Sixth Place- 120 Charmayne DeLong and 126 Tyler Graf.

Seventh Place - 106 Sean Buckmiller and 113 Tyzer Isenberger.

Other Placers - 145 Darrian Black.

On the Junior Varsity side, the Wolves had two wrestlers to place:

Second Place - 113 Jacob Anderson.

Third Place - 138 Sterling Norris.

As a team, the Wolves finished in second place with 266.0 team points under New Salem-Almont, ND with 375 and ahead of Hettinger-Scranton, ND with 233.5 team points.

Next up for the Wolves wrestling team is the Cowboy Classic Invitational tournament in Miles City, MT this Friday and Saturday January 11-12, starting at 9 a.m. on Friday morning.
