Moorcroft Police Report
December 17 - January 6
On December 18, officer assisted Gillette Police Department in locating a vehicle that was at the scene of a possible hit and run. Officer found the vehicle in question and it did not have any damage in the area that Gillette PD was looking for. Officer advised Gillette PD of findings.
On December 18, police were contacted in reference to a Domestic Violence incident. After arriving on scene and speaking to the parties involved it was decided that the incident was mutual combat and the parties were advised to stay away from each other. They agreed. Nothing further.
On December 18, police received a Facebook message from a woman who stated she was afraid her cousin was planning to commit suicide due to statements that were made. Officer made contact with the subject and everything was fine, there were no intentions of self-harm. Nothing further.
On December 18, police were contacted in reference to two females throwing snowballs at the windows of the preschool. Officer arrived and was unable to locate anyone around the building outside. Officer spoke with the complainant and received the license plate number for the subjects throwing the snowballs. Officer called the owner of the vehicle and left a message. Will attempt to make contact again at a later time.
On December 19, officer assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain access to the vehicle.
On December 20, police were contacted by a resident who had a very aggressive cat outside their home that wouldn’t leave. Officer went to the complainant’s residence and removed the animal.
On December 21, during a routine traffic stop, officer was advised the driver had a warrant for their arrest out of Campbell County. Suspect was issued a citation for speeding and arrested for the warrant. Suspect was transported to Crook County Detention Center without incident.
On December 22, police were contacted in reference to a welfare check on a resident in town. Officer made contact with the subject and other than being extremely intoxicated, there was nothing else wrong with the subject. Officer requested EMS to the residence to check on the subject also. Nothing further.
On December 24, police received a call from CCFS in reference to a gas theft. Investigation is continuing.
On December 25, police assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol and Moorcroft Ambulance Service with a single vehicle, single occupant crash at mile marker 152 on Interstate 90.
On December 26, police received a report of suspicious activity up at Coffee Cup Fuel Stop.
On December 27, police were notified of a fraudulent checking account opened at Pinnacle Bank. Officer received all the information from the bank and will proceed with investigation.
On December 28, police were requested to conduct a welfare check on a resident who was making threats of self harm. Officer made contact with the subject who stated they did not want to hurt themselves. Officer did not see any indication that the subject would harm themselves and left the residence.
On December 28, police were notified of an EMS page to the same residence as the earlier welfare check. Officer arrived on scene and waited with the subject until EMS arrived. Subject requested to go to hospital for assistance.
On December 30, police assisted a motorist who was stuck in the snow. Driver had someone close by coming to help, so officer provided traffic control so they could get the vehicle unstuck.
On December 30, police received a call in reference to a phone theft. Based off of the information given it appears the case is civil in nature. Officer will do a follow up.
On December 30, officer assisted a driver who had gotten their vehicle stuck in the snow in their driveway.
On December 31, officer assisted a driver who had gotten their vehicle stuck in a snow berm on N. Big Horn.
On January 1, police were contacted by dispatch in reference to two 9-1-1 hang up calls. Officer went to the residence and made contact with a child there who stated their mom was sleeping. Officer advised the children to not play with the telephones. Nothing further.
On January 1, officer assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their vehicle. Officer was able to gain access to the vehicle.
On January 3, police received a complaint of two barking dogs who were not being cared for. Officer made contact with one of the owners and spoke with them about the barking nuisance and about the complaint of neglect. The owner stated they would try to keep the dogs quieter and showed the officer the food and shelter that the dogs had.
On January 4, officer noticed a sign and reflective post were bent and ran over on the railroad barriers on South Yellowstone. Town Maintenance was notified of the damage to the sign.
On January 4, police delivered a 30 day notice to abate junk ordinance violation on a residence in town.
On January 4, police were notified of a traffic complaint on I-90 and officer went to assist in finding the vehicle. Officer was able to locate the vehicle. Officer advised Wyoming Highway Patrol of the vehicles location and officer followed the vehicle until WHP Trooper arrived. Officer returned to town, nothing further.
On January 4, police were asked to do a welfare check on a subject staying in town with family. Officer made contact with the subjects brother who believed the subject was in Gillette. Officer advised the brother to contact Gillette Police Department to see if they could make contact with them. Nothing further at this time.
On January 5, police were notified by dispatch of a vehicle being driven the wrong way on I-90 at approximately the 159 mile marker. Officer went up to the interstate to try to intercept the vehicle and was unable to locate any vehicle driving on the wrong side.

January 7-13
On January 7, police were contacted in reference to a crazy driver coming into Moorcroft via Hwy 14. Complainant was driving in front of the car in question and requested an officer respond to make contact with the driver regarding their complaint. Officer located and stopped the vehicle. Officer spoke to the driver and everything was fine.
On January 7, police were contacted by a driver who had locked their keys in their car at Coffee Cup Fuel Stop. Officer was able to unlock the vehicle.
On January 8, police assisted Moorcroft EMS on an emergency call.
