While the weekend did not end like the team hoped it would, Lady Wolves basketball coach Matthew Albertson says the girls played their hearts out. “Game one paired us with a strong Douglas team and they did not back down. Douglas is a very athletic group and they have some length, being a somewhat taller team,” he says. “This caused fits for us, but one of their strengths (full court pressure) the girls handled well for the most part.” The second game was Newcastle – a familiar foe for the Wolves. “This team we know very well and it was a fo...
The basketball season ended at Regionals for the boys’ team. Coach Nick Redden commends his team for the improvement they showed as the season progressed. “Any time a season ends abruptly, like it did at Regionals, you miss it. We had a season where you could take all 13 guys and compare them from the first game to the last game and see improvement that is rarely seen,” he says. “I had four amazing seniors and nine other guys who stepped up every day. You never had a practice when you had to ask them to work harder because that was just th...

Wheatland ended up getting us, but I think w...

Three great teams came into Moorcroft as the Lady Wolves headed into their last week of the season, according to coach Matthew Albertson. "The girls played really well on Friday night versus Buffalo and it was a very intense game for them," he says. "We are battling sickness in the team, so playing with body aches, nausea, a head cold, etc. is never easy. Saturday, we seem to run out of steam, despite only being down ten at the intermission." Albertson says he has seen consistent improvement...

As the regional tournament approaches, the Lady Wolves are continuing to gel in preparation, says Coach Matthew Albertson. "I still do not believe we have played to our potential," he says. Boys The Wolves' basketball coach, Nick Redden, was impressed with the heart of his Wolves this weekend. "Massive improvements against Glenrock. They stared off big on us, but the boys definitely came back huge from the first time we played them and things went well, we controlled everything we didn't control before," he says. "We did run into some serious foul problems, but we got it back to a very reasonable range where we could have brought the game back to the winning side of it, but with...

They were on the road for both Friday’s contest with the Bulldogs from Sundance and the Bison from Buffalo, on Saturday. “Both of these teams are well coached, and contenders for the state tournament this season. The girls played well on both days despite some sickness that has infiltrated the team, but that did seem to show itself on Saturday as we only had two subs for the game against the Lady Bison,” he says. "We had a couple of stops, but the shots were not seeming to fall, despite only being down eight points at half. In the third quarter, we hit a wall and it was like being in...
