  • Golfers hold their own as season begins

    Arlie Hulm, Golf Head Coach|Sep 5, 2019

The season is off to a good start for our golfers with the first two tournaments in Sundance and Wright. On the boys’ team, Caden Connally placed in the top ten in both tournaments. He placed fifth at Sundance and sixth at Wright. On the girls’ side, Kaylei Petz placed eighth in Sundance and was just out of the top ten at Wright. Weather conditions were perfect for Sundance, but Wright’s tournament was windy and chilly, which led to some higher scores. All of our golfers are playing solid and we are looking forward to improving our score...

  • Zero scrimmage with Wright

    Travis Santistevan|Sep 5, 2019

Zero Week Scrimmage with Wright was a good opportunity for the Wolves to show case what they have worked on in the first few weeks of the season. The varsity squad saw three quarters of action against Wright’s varsity and at the end of it, the Wolves lead 18-14. The Wright junior varsity scored twice on the Wolves junior varsity; with this being a scrimmage, it was a great opportunity for the younger players from both teams to see some action. The coaches were impressed with a lot of the play o...

  • First meet of season

Mary Hunter, Cross Country Head Coach|Sep 5, 2019

We have a small but tough Cross Country team this year with six athletes; three middle school girls, two high school girls and one high school young man who is home-schooled. These young people have been running in the heat and been nibbled on by mosquitoes without complaint. I have all the team that I need in these six athletes. I wish them nothing but the best throughout the season. On Friday, August 30, the Cross Country team showed up at the Casper Mountain Beartrap Invite. Four of the six were eligible to compete at this event having...

  • Volleyball, anyone?

    Grace Moore|Jul 18, 2019

Moorcroft’s public works finished the new volleyball pit at Robinson’s Park just in time for Jubilee’s Family Night and the court was a hit! An audience brought chairs and took pictures as teams faced off in the first volleyball tournament during Friday’s Family Fun Night and groups were using the net again Monday. The pit was created to professional standard with Fischbach Construction donating the labor and time to dig the site three feet; the town poured the first two feet with about 80 tons...

  • "Runners set." BANG! went the gun

    Zack Richards|May 30, 2019

The JH Moorcroft track team heard that time after time in their last two meets. On Monday, May 6 the JH wolves woke up at the crack of dawn and journeyed to Douglas for the Best of the East or East Classic. This is not your ordinary track meet. This meet requires true grit, spirit and dedication because without it, you will not qualify. Yes, qualify. Each year, teams from all over Wyoming compete in regular track meets to try and meet the required marks to be able to qualify. This is compared to pre-qualifying in HS track to be able to go to...

  • Four-legged fun

    Grace Moore|May 16, 2019

Quite the crowd came together last Thursday evening to watch the triumphs and tragedies of the annual Donkey Basketball competition. Before the battle began, the teams gathered outside with their four legged associates to listen to a rundown of the rules. The humans were attentive, but the burros seemed quite blasé about the affair and, as the first game got underway, the players truly began to understand the limitations of working with a donkey in a speed sport. Six teams participated with...

Lane Wood led us in scoring with a 92, Caden Connally shot a 98 and Payton Timberman a 102. Overall, I was happy with how the boys competed. Because of weather, we haven’t had a lot of opportunities to get on an actual course. This was the first time of the spring season where they have been able to play more than two holes. They did v...

  • Proving ground for a pack of Wolves

    Mary Hunt|Mar 21, 2019

By Mary Hunt The Moorcroft Wolves opened the 2019 Spring Track and Field season at the Chadron High School Invite. The meet was held indoors and we were thankful to have gotten an opportunity to run. Taking into consideration the rough start to the track season, the inability to run on our track or use our gym, the Wolves proved to be a very worthy opponent. There was not only a show of strength and power, but there was a promise of good things to come for the Lady Wolves. This is the year with...
