    On Tuesday, the Lady Wolves traveled to Hot Springs for the first round of the West River Tournament to face the Hot Springs Lady Bison. The Wolves got off to a good start and were able to take a 33-19 lead into the half.     The West River Tournament had the Wolves paired off with the Hot Springs Bison. This game brought some energy to the Wolves as they were able to contain the Bison to a low score for the entire game with some good team defense. The Wolves would come out on top with a score of 51 to 27. The second round definitely gave the Wolves some challenges with a good athletic team in the Wall Eagles.     The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Miles City, MT this past weekend to wrestle in the 62nd Annual Cowboy Invitational tournament. There, the team placed fifth out of 27 teams from across Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. They came back with two champions, an outstanding wrestler award and many placers.     On Friday, the Lady Wolves traveled to Dayton for the Powder River Conference Round Robin. The first game saw the Ladies face off against the Glenrock Herders. It was good for us to play against Glenrock as they are in our region so it was a good opportunity.   • Wolves participate in Powder River Classic

    The Wolves participated in the Powder River Classic in Tongue River last Friday and Saturday, playing three games over the weekend. The first game was against the Glenrock Herders, a back and forth game, with the Herders outlasting the Wolves, 65-58. This game was good for the Wolves as there is a chance they could see the Herders again in the Regional Tournament. The second game was the Wolves versus the Thunder Basin junior varsity team.     The Wolves wrestling team traveled to Hettinger, ND this past weekend to compete along with 17 other teams in the 2020 Hettinger Classic Tournament. There, they finished with two champions, four runners up, many placers and a third place finish as a team.     On Saturday, the Lady Wolves returned to action following the Christmas break with a game versus the Hulett Red Devils. The Junior Varsity girls got the afternoon started on a good note with a 27-8 victory. Coach Arlie Hulm commented that he thought the girls came out ready to play.     It was an exciting game to get 2020 started! We should have known it was going to be a close finish for this game as it was neck and neck the entire way. The Wolves and Red Devils kept the game close with a 14 to 14 score at the end of quarter one. In the second quarter, the Wolves would edge out the Red Devils, 26 to 22.     The Lady Wolves traveled to Burns for the Burns Winter Classic over the weekend. On Thursday, the Wolves played the home team, Burns Broncs. Moorcroft got out to an early lead and ended the first quarter 10-1 and the half up 22-11. This is a lot of basketball in three days with seven games in that time; varsity played four and the junior varsity played three.
