    The Moorcroft Lady Wolves made their first trip to the Girls Basketball State Tournament since 2006. Their first opponent on Thursday afternoon was the Riverside Rebels. Riverside got out to a quick start and the Wolves found themselves down 16-6 with 4 minutes to go in the first quarter.   • Wolves win eighth state championship

    The Wolves wrestling team finished up their regular season this past weekend at the Wyoming High School Athletic Association State Championships in Casper. They qualified 17 wrestlers for the tournament and made quite a showing with placing ten of those wrestlers, nine of them in the top three. The team also came away with their eighth consecutive state championship title, making it a total of ten state championship titles for Moorcroft, the other two being in 1968 and 2005.     The Moorcroft Lady Wolves Basketball Team headed into the 2A East Regional Tournament as the #1 seed and found themselves facing off against the Glenrock Herders.     This week the Moorcroft Wolves traveled and competed in the 2A East Regional Basketball in Torrington. The first match up for the Wolves would be the number two seed from the South, the Cyclones from Southeast. This turned out to be one of the best games of the entire season. A match up that was full of back and forth action that kept the fans on the edge of their seats!     The Wolves wrestling team wrestled in the 2A East regional tournament this past Saturday in Lingle. There they competed against ten other teams from the east to fight their way to a first place finish. They had eight in the finals and six individual championships.     Hailey Jones signed a letter of intent with the University of Wyoming Monday afternoon. The athlete has run track throughout her years in high school. “The coaches said they’d been watching me ever since I started high school,” she says. She will be running cross country and track for the college for a scholarship. It was a competitive game with neither team able to gain much ground, but in the fourth quarter, the Wolves were able to get some key baskets and convert turnovers into layups and were able to pull out the victory, 43-36.     This Friday had the Wolves traveling to Big Horn to take on the Rams. It was a hard fought game by both sides, but the Wolves battled to keep the game close all four quarters.
