The Wolves traveled to the Big Horn tournament over the weekend. In pool play, the Wolves split with Tongue River going 1-1 (22-25, 25-23) out of two sets. On Friday afternoon, the Moorcroft Wolves hosted Saratoga. Saratoga got off to a hot start and got up 19-0 before halftime. A long touchdown run by Zane Linder got the Wolves on the board going into the half 19-6. They struggled scoring the ball in the second half and could not convert turnovers like they did the first half. Saratoga put a few more scores on and won the game 34-6. On September 3, the Moorcroft Wolves traveled to Greybull to play under the Friday night lights. The game started slow for Moorcroft as turnovers halted their drives. This benefitted the Buffs as they scored several times in the first quarter to make the score 20-0. The JH track athletes have completed another year of competition. The season started off a little rough with the weather and a few meets being cancelled, but that did not stop our young Wolves from their amazing work ethic and 100% dedication to the sport. The Moorcroft Wolves traveled to Torrington for the 2A Regional Track and Field Meet on May 14-15. For the first race of the meet, Mallory Jones, Kaylee Terry, Amasa Gerstner and Kane Goff ran the 800 meter run. Jones brought home the silver medal with her second-place finish with the time of 2:30.82. Saturday morning saw the beginnings of a blustery cold and cloudy day as 38 daring souls gathered at the Keyhole Marina for the annual Jackalope Jump. “It was the biggest one we’ve had so far,” reports Special Olympics Coordinator and Coach Kassie Clements. The Wolves wrestling team competed in the Wyoming High School State tournament last Thursday in Casper against 20 other 1A/2A schools from across the state. State was run as a one-day tournament this year, making for a long day of wrestling and tough competition. The team came home with two champions, three placers and seventh place as a team. On Thursday, the Lady Wolves headed to the District Tournament in Wright. The Lady Wolves took on the Big Horn Rams in the first game of the day. On Friday, the Sundance Bulldogs came to town. The Lady Wolves got out to a quick first quarter lead and found themselves ahead, 17-7. The second quarter was back and forth with neither team able to gain much ground and the third quarter was much the same with Moorcroft ahead, 36-27.
