Pine Haven's council celebrated their volunteers at a gala fundraiser Saturday evening. Eighty-five places had been set with six per table at the community center Saturday evening, but as guests continued to arrive, these table settings were rearranged to sit eight, "or more", according to Mayor Karla Brandenburg. Pine Haven's volunteer fire auxiliary hosted their 21st annual Octoberfest fundraiser this year with numerous guests coming throughout the day on Saturday. Many items and baskets were donated for the draw; a cup is set in front of each item and those interested write their name on a piece of paper, fold it and put it in the cup to be mixed and drawn after lunch. October has arrived and so has the fall weather and we are excited about several fall themed activities at the library this month. Alyson from My Homemade Hellos is returning with an adult craft on October 17 and a teen craft (5th grade and up) on October 20. Library staff will be leading an adult craft on October 26. The Moorcroft Parent Advisory Committee will be offering free Halloween costumes and décor to everyone in the community between October 11 and 15. Costumes will be available from toddler through adult sizes. The giveaway will take place in the gym basement of the Moorcroft Town Center (entrance through the back gym door). NEWWA hosted 39 teams at their annual fall fish tournament last weekend at Keyhole State Park and Pine Haven. Local spokesperson and co-organizer Sharon Coleman said of the event, "This was the best fishing I've seen in a while for this tournament; everyone was catching fish and some of the biggest I've ever seen, we had several 30 inchers." The first place team of Harold, Brianna and Tyler Mason also won for the biggest fish caught at 30.5 inches....

Pine Haven invites residents to a community gala Saturday, October 7, at the community center. This celebration starts at 6 p.m. with music, a pasta buffet, door prizes and dancing. The North Eastern Wyoming Walleye Association (NEWWA) changed things up a bit this year by disengaging their event from the Pine Haven Days celebration. There was some concern about the effects of this departure, but, as co-organizer Sharon Coleman said afterward, "This year's fish fry was our biggest one yet!" Competitors were in Cheyenne last weekend for the 2023 State Horseshoe Tournament. Sanctioned Wyoming Horseshoe Pitching Association members came from all over the state for the competition. Three participants from Moorcroft did very well at the state tournament. Kolter Huven placed first in the Junior division and Kris Huven placed third in the Men's C Division.
