  • Police respond to report of shots fired, assures there is no active threat

    On September 25 at approximately 8:32 p.m., the Moorcroft Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of North Yellowstone for a report of a woman heard screaming and then two shots fired. Officers arrived on scene within two minutes and did not locate anyone in the immediate area. Additional officers and deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office as well as troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol were called in and a perimeter was secured.     Moorcroft Police Chief Bill Bryant has requested assistance from neighbors regarding a string of burglaries of unlocked vehicles along North Big Horn and South Yellowstone Avenues throughout the morning on September 21. Two firearms were discovered and stolen in these burglaries. A culprit was seen in a victim’s automobile and has been described as a white male, 5’11-6’2, thin to medium build, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
