At approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, December 23, a call came into the 911 dispatch about a structure fire in Pine Haven. Pine Haven's volunteer firefighters responded and, realizing the scope of the blaze, Pine Haven Fire Chief TJ Gideon requested assistance from Moorcroft, who immediately deployed to help. On Friday, Governor Mark Gordon ordered that U.S. and State of Wyoming flags across the state be flown at half-staff to honor the memory of Bruce Lang, who lost his life attempting to assist with an ice rescue at Keyhole Reservoir last week. Bruce Lang, 68, of Pine Haven, Wyoming died doing what he did best, taking care of everyone else, on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Keyhole Reservoir. CASPER — For the first time in at least a century, Wyoming recorded more deaths than births over a year-long period, according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
