    This year's celebration of holiday cheer is starting on Friday, December 6 and going through Sunday, December 8. There are activities for all ages located in Moorcroft and the surrounding area. On Friday, the Moorcroft Branch Library will be hosting an ugly sweater decorating class. Attendees will need to bring a sweater, jacket or a piece of clothing they would like to decorate.   • Moore retires as Leader reporter

    On November 26, Grace Moore officially retired from the reporter position at the Moorcroft Leader. Moore started working for the paper in August of 2012. Moore says her most memorable moments are when she won an award from the Wyoming Press Association in 2016 for an unbiased government story and, in the following year, she won the same award. Then, in 2022, Moore won another award, this time for photography. The picture that Moore captured was of fireworks over Keyhole on the Fourth of July....

  • Aging infrastructure leads to line break

    During the day of Tuesday, November 26, a water main break occurred on Powder River Ave between the streets of Crook and Goshen. The Moorcroft Public Works employees, with the assistance of Glenn Construction, were able to repair the infrastructure in three and a half hours. Shortly after noon, a concerned citizen reported water bubbling out of the street. Once hearing this report, water was shut off to residences in that area for crews to fix the break.     Allen Eugene Tobin, 67, of Pine Haven, Wyoming, passed away on November 27, 2024, in Rapid City, South Dakota. Al was born in Gettysburg, South Dakota to Eugene John Tobin and Marilyn Jean Schilling Tobin on October 3, 1957. He graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1976. He married Jackie Rae Jones on June 25, 1977, in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Al worked in the construction industry for over 35 years before retiring to spend time on the lake and with family.     CASPER — The Bureau of Land Management on Tuesday passed final rules for the Powder River Basin stating that more than 413,000 acres of land are to be blocked off from new federal coal leasing.
