Pine Haven's council celebrated their volunteers at a gala fundraiser Saturday evening. Eighty-five places had been set with six per table at the community center Saturday evening, but as guests continued to arrive, these table settings were rearranged to sit eight, "or more", according to Mayor Karla Brandenburg. Pine Haven's volunteer fire auxiliary hosted their 21st annual Octoberfest fundraiser this year with numerous guests coming throughout the day on Saturday. Many items and baskets were donated for the draw; a cup is set in front of each item and those interested write their name on a piece of paper, fold it and put it in the cup to be mixed and drawn after lunch. October has arrived and so has the fall weather and we are excited about several fall themed activities at the library this month. Alyson from My Homemade Hellos is returning with an adult craft on October 17 and a teen craft (5th grade and up) on October 20. Library staff will be leading an adult craft on October 26. Concern was recently expressed by a Pine Haven resident over the capacity and capability of the lift stations currently in place on Boe Drive to deal with the installation of the new sewer line in the near future (these lift stations pump wastewater from a lower elevation to a higher elevation).
