Beginning in November, Moorcroft will entertain one town council meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m., this ordinance having passed second reading Monday night. This, of course, is not the first time the town's business has been curtailed to the one monthly endeavor. In the past, however, according to Councilman Dale Petersen, the time it took to cover the agenda was often prohibitive. Making Wednesday evening the monthly date of the meeting was not arbitrary either,...
Moorcroft has received grant funds in the amount of $484,000 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) for the construction of the long-anticipated splash pad and the council is now looking at the next step. The grant is a 50/50 deal so, when the council approved applying for funding, they also approved using a portion of the Specific Purpose Tax endowment for the town’s percentage. Acknowledging the years townspeople have been waiting for this water feature, according to Clerk/Treasurer Cheryl Schneider, the path the application had t...

"Even the kids who aren't in athletics – we've got fine arts, band...all of our kids are doing amazing things and we have to find a way to display that." Every class, teacher and a...

After a lull during the summer months, bird flu is back and members of the public are asked to report any suspicious avian deaths to the Wyoming Game & Fish Department. According to a statement from the department, positive results for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) have been confirmed in a blue-winged teal, a great horned owl and two turkey vultures. “With bird hunting seasons either ongoing or rapidly approaching, and as migrating birds start to head south, we are asking the public to keep an eye out for dead birds and be aware o...
CASPER — Wyoming women and health care providers are asking a Teton County judge to block state lawmakers and an anti-abortion group from joining an ongoing lawsuit over Wyoming’s abortion ban. Right to Life Wyoming and lawmakers Rep. Rachel Rodriguez-Williams, R-Cody, and Rep. Chip Neiman, R-Hulett, filed a motion last month asking to join the lawsuit as intervenors. If accepted, they would plan to make additional arguments about abortion as a procedure and the legislative process. While an attorney representing the state said he isn’t again...

The number one football team in the state, Pine Bluffs, made the long trip up to play the Wolves this last weekend. It was quickly evident that they are the number one team for a reason. However, just like the Pack we are, we never once gave up and we continued to give our best effort all night. We have a lot of work to still do, we aren't quite all firing on the same cylinder, but we are getting closer each and every day. We have come so far and I am so excited for these boys to continue to...
The Moorcroft Lady Wolves had a great weekend, going 1-1 and is now sitting with a 11-9 record and 2-1 in our conference play. On Friday, we faced the Wright Panthers, falling short in the fifth set, Wright 3 Moorcroft 2 (19-25. 25-19, 10-25, 25-22, 15-13). The girls played hard and worked together as a team, but Wright ended up taking charge at the end of the match. We tried some new rotations as a team and it was fun to see the girls get out of their comfort zone and try some new positions in a game. HayLeigh Fenner got 13 kills; Camlyn...
