When Moorcroft’s council came together Monday night, Councilman Owen Mathews, who has been absent a number of times over the last two years due to a change of personal circumstances, sent in a letter of resignation, which was approved. Public Works and the volunteer fire department were the only town departments with reports to give at last Tuesday night’s meeting of the Pine Haven Council. DEQ recently inspected Pine Haven’s sanitation system, according to Public Works Director Sunny Schell, “and that went really well”. Other than a screen that had to be adjusted to the department’s newest restrictions, the town passed comfortably. Pine Haven citizens saw the official opening of their own senior center last Wednesday, celebrating with a lunch of barbecued brisket and sides that was prepared off site and served in the dining room with all appropriate protective gear. Gary Harold Donner was born in Billings, Montana, March 12, 1933, the second youngest of Charlie and Dora Harvey Donner. Gary passed away on September 7, 2020, in Crook Memorial Hospital in Sundance, Wyoming. Gary moved at a young age from Idaho to Rozet, Wyoming, where he attended school and lived the country life. Dickie D. Conzelman, 73, passed away on September 10, 2020. Dick was born April 12, 1947, in Spearfish, South Dakota, the youngest of six children to Glenn Conzelman and Effie Mae (Lawrence) Conzelman. He attended a rural school through the eighth grade and graduated from Hulett High School in 1965. Woman sentenced to probation in embezzlement from county GILLETTE (WNE) — The former employee who stole almost $40,000 in taxpayer money from the Campbell County Treasurer’s Office is serving a 30-day split sentence in county jail before being released on three years of supervised probation. Marcella Racel Hall, 35, had pleaded guilty to felony theft after admitting that she altered 39 receipts of people who paid their vehicle taxes and kept the money, which amounted to $39,585. On Sunday, September 13, the Moorcroft Community Development Committee (MCDC) restored the Devils Tower sign located north of town on State Highway 14. Committee member Ken Newby and volunteer Paul Smoot (son of long time resident Robert Smoot) power-washed the sign to prepare it for its second restoration, the first one being 2004 when Jeff Freyholtz repainted. The Moorcroft Wolves traveled down to Saratoga for a Saturday afternoon game over the weekend. Looking for the first road win of the season, the pack was determined to keep their strong start moving in the right direction. Friday, September 4, the Wolves embraced the new 2020 season with COVID-19 regulations as they hosted the Greybull Buffaloes. On September 8, police received a welfare check on a small child wearing a backpack walking toward Texas Trails Subdivision. Caller was worried something was wrong, or that the child was lost since school had just started and the child was walking away from the school and along the highway.
