    The upcoming Stage 1 of the Powder River Water project, slated to start in the spring, has hit a snag. SLIB community loan officer Rebecca Webb recently contacted Moorcroft Clerk/Treasurer Cheryl Schneider regarding a new requirement for the loan. The town is expected to retain three months’ worth of payments in a reserve account and Schneider is to send their office a copy of the account statement on a quarterly basis for verification until the loan is paid in full.     Public Works Director Cory Allison and the council discussed the seal coating of Moorcroft’s streets at Monday night’s meeting. The work is nearing completion for the year. Sadly, throughout this procedure, there have been individuals who have disregarded cones and driven on the top coat as it was curing, possibly compromising the integrity of the product.     Josie Ewing, 85 of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away on August 21, 2019, at Garden Hills Assisted Living Center in the care of Hospice. Josephine Mayme Frank was born April 16, 1934 to Joe and Myrtle (Hutchins) Frank in Sundance, Wyoming. She was raised on a ranch near Sundance; when they moved into town she helped at the family store and gas station. Josie graduated from Sundance High School. Josie married Eugene A.     The American Legion Auxiliary #25 is proud to announce that Byron Williamson, a 4th grader at the Moorcroft K-8, was selected as the first-place state winner in his category for the poppy poster contest. Mrs. Baron-Kanode had her third grade class enter the contest last November, and Byron’s poster was first in the local contest.     On August 12, police received a report of a man and woman fighting in the middle of the road at the intersection of Converse and Yellowstone, officers made contact with the man and woman and they were subsequently both arrested, the man for Domestic Assault and the woman for Domestic Battery.
