The 20th Annual Devils Tower Car Show was held on Saturday at the KOA Campground at the entrance to Devils Tower. The show is sponsored each year by the Texas Trail Cruisers Car Club out of Moorcroft, Wyoming. There were 127 entrants this year, the largest turnout ever, with lots of comments of many very cool vehicles. Moorcroft’s Parent Action Committee (PAC) started nearly 13 years ago with teachers and parents joining forces in planning, organizing and facilitating activities beyond the classroom. However, with only two remaining members, the committee is looking at disbanding. This possibility impacts the entire community as PAC is responsible for many of the events folks have become accustomed to enjoying with their kids. Freedom Holdings’ Greg Cottrell, one of the developers and owners of C-Bar Estates in Pine Haven, and the company’s engineer, Chris Lovas, have hired KO Construction to finish the work of burying the open trenches and cleaning the site after the council felt that the former contractor had abandoned the job in a dangerous state. Mary Ellen McAdam, age 97, of Stover, Missouri passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at her home, where she resided for the past five years with Merna and Jim Boyd. It was on the 5th of August, 1926 that Jesse Andrew and Cassie Margaret (Grey) Clausen welcomed their daughter, Mary Ellen, into their home in Martin, South Dakota. 11-acre fire south of Wright sparked by mine blast GILLETTE (WNE) — The Campbell County Fire Department fought its biggest fire of the season Sunday caused by a blast at Black Thunder Mine. At 2:15 p.m., firefighters responded to the Hilight Road area, south of Highway 450, for a reported grass fire. Everyone is invited to celebrate Pine Haven Days with their neighbors and friends Labor Day weekend, September 2 and 3, hosted by the Pine Haven Recreation Board. With classes back in session Tuesday, Moorcroft’s schools enjoyed an open house Monday, welcoming new and returning students with informal introductions to their classrooms and teachers. On August 14, police assisted Moorcroft EMS on a lift assist. On August 15, police were contacted by someone who found a wallet in Diehl’s parking lot. Officer was able to find the owner and the wallet was returned. On August 17, police were called regarding a suspicious person on the railroad tracks near Robinson Park. Pine Haven has been struggling for a number of months to work with more than 30 homeowners in an effort to bring their properties up to the codes related to the town’s nuisance ordinance. These violations include abandoned vehicles, 20-32; accumulation of solid waste, 20-33; and not mowing, 20-35.
