    Maggie Mullen, WyoFile.com|Aug 15, 2024

  • Fire restrictions upgraded

    Sarah Pridgeon|Aug 15, 2024

Fire Warden Charlie Harrison and the Crook County Commissioners have made the decision to upgrade the county fire restrictions to stage two. At this time, the fire situation throughout the county is considered to be severe to extreme due to a heavy fuel load and dry conditions. This could create situations that over-extend the firefighting capacity of local government. “The situation dictates that,” commented Commissioner Fred Devish last week, noting that it doesn’t seem as though the conditions are set to change any time soon. Shawn Cochr...

  • Letter to the Editor

    Aug 15, 2024

Dear Editor, I am writing to formally demand the resignation of Secretary of State Chuck Gray and the members of the Crook County GOP who I believe were involved in the recent illegal donation made by the Crook County Republican Party to the Wyoming Freedom Caucus PAC. It is my belief that this donation was unlawful, and is my believe that the only reason the funds were returned was due to the diligence of Senator Ogden Driskill, who exposed this illegal activity. The Wyoming Freedom Caucus PAC’s subsequent claim of returning the money for t...

  • Pine Haven Council investigates road work grants

    Grace Moore|Aug 15, 2024

HDR Engineering’s Mike Oakley recently discussed the Safe Streets and Roads for All grant (SS4A) now available from the US Department of Transportation as another possible funding source for road work. According to Oakley, transportation projects are notoriously difficult to fund in Wyoming: “It’s easier to find funding for water and sewer than it is for street repair.” This grant was started in 2022 with $5billion available and, according to WYDOT, still has approximately $3billion to distribute until the program’s end in 2026. The engineer...

Chaffee had smoked 100 racks of ribs, but the turn out for the picnic was about half that of last year, leaving around 50 racks to be sold over the next few days from the store.
