Moorcroft’s town council has recently mitigated the verbiage of certain ordinances to make them enforceable. One such adjustment is to the nuisance ordinance and addresses vegetation as well as street worthy automobiles and proper storage cover. Starting with the law governing the allowable height of grass and weeds on any property whether developed or not within the township says it cannot exceed eight inches. Crook County Sheriff’s deputy Jory Tadlock assured the Pine Haven Council at last Tuesday’s meeting that any resident caught violating the current municipal fire ban will be cited. However, he encourages citizens who report such action to call the sheriff’s department directly at 283-1225. Call 911 ONLY if “it is an emergency fire”....

This weekend Moorcroft hosted the competition to name this year’s Crook County Rodeo Royalty. The girls rode Friday evening, showing their saddle and reining skills as well as the requisite wave before stepping to the ground to listen as the judge critiqued their work. Saturday saw the third annual Lakeview Show and Shine Car Show open with a bang with 50 entries in the first hour and more coming in as fast as they could be registered. Ultimately, there were 54 entered in the competition and 40 just for fun, coming from all over the county including several from Hulett, Moorcroft and Sundance. Charlotte Joanne Goerndt, age 90, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in her home. Gramma Jo was born with the name Charlotte Joanne Haviland…however, she did not use her first name as she often said, “Charlotte refers to a lady, which I am not, but Joanne is just plain ordinary…like me.” She was born in her Gramma’s house in Mount Ayr, Iowa, on June 9, 1931, to Don and Neva Haviland.
