It’s been two years since Pine Haven’s new pump and well were installed and initiated. Since then, the pump has not performed correctly and the contractor has been unable to make the pump work without “tripping” an error code within the computerized program and failing operation. The council has become ever-more-frustrated with perceived DRM’s lack of attention to this ongoing issue. HDR Engineering’s Heath Turbiville, who has been in intermittent contact with the contractor, reported at last Tuesday’s meeting, “The last email I had was from...
The Pine Haven Beatification Alliance along with the recreation board and the senior citizen group hosted a community cleanup day Saturday morning. There were more than 30 volunteers who attended the job meeting and later walked or drove to their assigned areas. With said delegation, everyplace needing care received it, including cleaning up cans, bottles and paper debris along the roadways; checking the baseball field in anticipation of the summer games and the clean; and weed whacking at the...
With the final building torn down on North Big Horn Avenue in Moorcroft, residents are reminiscing about the life of these old structures as they anticipate the possibilities of what may be built next, adding to Moorcroft’s history. Lifetime citizens Raymond Petersen and Rosalie Brimmer recall their childhood on the avenue. Brimmer remembers cold lockers kept in the rear of the grocery store that lived after the mercantile and before the building housing Diehl’s Supermarket now. “They used...
The Town of Pine Haven enjoys a new sign welcoming guests to the well-groomed, tree-lined streets of the community that sits on the west shore of Keyhole Reservoir. When the municipality received the defunct Vineyard Church building as a gift a couple of years ago, the round sign identifying the church at the corner of 113 and Pine Haven Road was part of that deal, according to Mayor John Cook. The two-sided sign was relatively new and of a high standard so, “We just decided that we’d put up...

In last week’s front page article, “Variance for town property…”, a quote alluded to a citizen’s use of the procedure outlined by the United States Postal Service to create new addresses. Moorcroft Postmaster Kim Watson would like to clarify the process for anyone who may face a similar situation in the future. To acquire a new address within town limits, “They have to go to the town and get their address there, then the town will send it to me and I send it into the Address Management System (AMS).” For those who are building within the co...

We were able to compete in Spearfish and Sturgis, SD, which are a few of the bigger meets our athletes get to compete in. We went home with some wins and personal records (PRs) that kept the young Wolves excited and eager to keep going. We...
