The Board of Trustees for Crook County Medical Services District has selected a replacement board member to serve out the remaining time in Joey Kanode’s term as the trustee for Moorcroft. Kanode stepped down in February, announcing that he did not want his name associated with the board and disagreed with decisions that had been made. The county commissioners approved a resolution on Monday that will officially place the Specific Purpose Sales and Use Tax (SPOT) on this year’s ballot. Voters will be asked to approve a total of $7.5 million, which will be shared between the four municipalities and the counties such that each entity receives $1.5 million. Even though students are no longer attending school on campus, Crook County School District cooks continue to provide nourishing meals remotely as well. In Moorcroft, the kitchen staff and support help supply approximately 500 lunch bags each week. Each bag contains six different items for students. The bus drivers deliver this to pick-up points each Thursday. They also use a pick-up location at the MK8 school from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those not on a route. Former Laramie dealership, Nissan settle lawsuit LARAMIE (WNE) – A former car dealership in Laramie, Snowy Range Dodge, has settled a lawsuit with Nissan, which went to federal court last year in an attempt to seek upwards of $6.8 million owed by the local dealership. Northern State University will commemorate its 260 spring 2020 graduates on Saturday, May 9. Graduates include Andrea Garlick, Moorcroft (M.S.Ed. Counseling - Clinical Mental Health). An increase of 24 in the number of Fremont County coronavirus cases indicates that the illness is continuing to spread in the community, county officials said. The Wyoming Department of Health reported Wednesday that the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state grew by 27 to total 479, pushed almost entirely by the increase in Fremont County. Restaurants and bars across Wyoming continued their gradual reopening on Thursday as Department of Health officials announced the state’s number of confirmed coronavirus cases grew by four. The high number of coronavirus cases on Fremont County reflects the amount of testing done in the county, according to a health official. Dr. Paul Ebbert, chief medical officer for Wind River Family and Community Health Care, told the Riverton Ranger that more coronavirus testing has been conducted in Fremont County than in any other county in the state. “We’ve done about one-third of the testing in the state and we have about one-third of the (confirmed) cases in the state,” he said. The daily increase in confirmed coronavirus cases in Wyoming on Tuesday was at the lowest level seen since mid-April, according to Department of Health figures. Wyoming recorded its eighth coronavirus-related death over the weekend as a COVID-19 outbreak at a nursing home added seven new confirmed cases to the state’s total. The Wyoming Department of Health reported Saturday an older Fremont County woman had died as a result of the illness. Eleven new coronavirus cases in five counties brought the state’s total number of confirmed cases to 577 on Monday.
