The Moorcroft Town Council has further clarified the planned adjustment of the water and sewer ordinances. Last week's winter storm brought life for many Crook County residents to a standstill. In Moorcroft, garbage service was postponed as the public works crew had to clear snow Thursday morning and closed the landfill. The Moorcroft schools released classes at noon on Wednesday as the snow began to fall and cancelled lessons entirely on Thursday. Among items of interest on the agenda of the regular meeting of the Pine Haven Council last Tuesday evening was the annexation of Boe Drive. This action was in agreement with a previous discussion with most of the residents of the roadway regarding their angst about improvements made to the dirt two-track. Celebration of Life for Charles R. Rankin was held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Upton Elementary Auditorium. Charles R. Rankin was born on January 6, 1925, to Robert and Louella Rankin on the Rankin Ranch south of Upton. He joined a sister, Ada May Whitten, and brother, Harold Rankin. Jan was born in Chamberlain, South Dakota, on March 18, 1942, along with her identical twin sister, Janet Bouma. Camlyn Connally, an eighth grade student and FCCLA member in Moorcroft, has focused her project this year around literacy in kindergarten through fourth grade. Junior Class Thanks Community On March 9, 2019 the Moorcroft High School Junior class hosted the annual Prom. The theme for this year was Enchanted Garden. In a change-up from prior years, the entire gym was decorated with both sides of the bleachers available for seating. A 20-foot tree adorned the center of the gym with a fully draped ceiling, a waterfall, flowers, lanterns, bushes and candles to give the whole room a soft, romantic feel. Last week, Girl Scouts all around the country celebrated Girl Scouts 107th birthday. Our local Girl Scout Troop celebrated with a cupcake decorating party. On March 5, police were called to Moorcroft High School to meet with the principal and a student who had brandished a knife toward another student.
