    Clerk/Treasurer Cheryl Schneider reported Moorcroft’s position to date (about 5.5 months into the 2020/2021 fiscal year) at a budget meeting on Monday night. She expressed relative comfort with the numbers, saying the town is currently at approximately 44% of the budget and 41% of the water and sewer enterprising accounts. “There is nothing alarming as of yet,” she said.     On Friday, the Moorcroft Wolves basketball team opened their season in the Burns Winter Classic against the Lingle-Ft. Laramie Doggers. The boys had two long weeks of practice and were excited to get their season started. The Wolves jumped out to an early 15-4 first quarter lead and never looked back. I thought we pressured and defended well all game long. We have a deep bench and a senior lead team that was tough for the Doggers to handle. The team cruised to a 61-21 win.     On Friday, the Lady Wolves traveled to Pine Bluffs to take on the Lingle-Ft. Laramie Doggers in the opening game of the season. Moorcroft got off to a quick 13-0 start before the Doggers got back into the game. The Wolves led 40-25 going into the half. We came out a little slow in the second half and allowed Lingle to get back into the game.     On December 7, police were notified of a stolen snow machine from property out on Highway 16. Officer went to the east end of town and located a dark colored truck towing a trailer with a snow machine on the trailer. Officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver and passenger. Officer also confirmed the snow machine on the trailer was in fact the stolen machine.     With the clarification of the ordinance for the municipal snow routes, Moorcroft Chief of Police Bill Bryant wants citizens to have a clear understanding of the changes. A few weeks ago, the town installed new signs saying that there would be no parking allowed on these routes from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. starting November 1 to April 1. This is to ensure streets are clear of vehicles allowing plows and emergency equipment passage without interruption.
