    Grace Moore|Feb 23, 2023

"Hopefully, our extra money will help," Brandenburg advised residents attending Tuesday night's meeting. "There is a...

A "KARE" contract is an agreement between an ambulance service, including EMTs and other emergency medical personnel, and an entity such as, in this instance, the Town of Moorcroft for financial compensation. Brad and Lexi McKee introduced the possibility of this type of agreement to Moorcroft's council at last Wednesday's meeting. This contract can be modified to the degree necessary for both parties to an extent, but the overall picture includes changing the volunteer position into that of an...

  • Town bids farewell to long-time clerk

    Grace Moore|Feb 23, 2023

Barb Hardy shared a heartfelt goodbye as the Clerk/Treasurer for Pine Haven. She has been the first face of Pine Haven for 14 years and is retiring at the end of February. As the clerk reminisces about her first days and weeks at a recent meeting, she finds the humor in her original concept of the job definition: "I thought to myself, this will be easy, it's such a small office, I can handle this." Of course, this was before she was informed of the clerk's obligation to take accurate minutes of...

  • Lady Wolves win against Eagles on home ground

    Dusty Petz|Feb 23, 2023

On Friday, the Lady Wolves traveled to Buffalo to take on the Lady Bison. Buffalo came out quickly and jumped out to a 22-5 first quarter lead. The Lady Wolves were able to close the gap and found themselves down, 32-17 at halftime. Buffalo was able to pull away in the second half for a 66-37 victory. We had a couple of quarters where we weren’t able to get defensive stops and our offense stalled. I thought the other two quarters were good, but we need to be able to put all four quarters together. The end is in sight as we conclude the sixth week of the 2023 Legislative Session. This week, budget negotiations were finalized by members of the House and Senate, and we continue to debate many bills with important impacts on Wyoming. As always, as discussions on legislation continue, my thoughts are on what a bill’s outcomes will mean for House District 1. Here are some notable measures that are moving through the legislative process: Budget bill Although I am pleased with the savings f...

  • From the Desk of Senate President Ogden Driskill

    Ogden Driskill, Senator|Feb 23, 2023

With just a couple of weeks left of the Legislative Session, I am happy to report that good, steady work continues at the Capitol. This has been one of the smoother legislative sessions I have been a part of, and we have mostly been able to work out problems without too much hassle. I hope the House and the Senate will keep on finding ways to work together and compromise. If that happens, there is a chance we will get all of our work done early and come home. Updates on a few key bills follow: Budget: The House and Senate agreed on a final...

  • Abortion bill's future uncertain in Senate

Maya Shimizu Harris, Casper Star-Tribune Via Wyoming News Exchange|Feb 23, 2023

CASPER — It’s unclear whether the Senate will get to debate the “Life is a Human Right” bill, the most ambitious and sweeping anti-abortion legislation the Wyoming Legislature has seen. Senate President Ogden Driskill, who is in charge of assigning bills to committees, told the Star-Tribune on Friday morning that he’s deliberating whether or not to bring the bill out of his drawer beca...
