With the winter season upon us, fishermen are getting ready for ice fishing at Keyhole. Ice condi-tions on Keyhole are suitable for ice fishing as of now. On Monday, January 6, around 7:45 a.m., a concerned citizen reported a chimney on fire on East Converse St. Thanks to the quick actions of the fire department, there was minimal damage. Fire Chief Jeff Holberg says that the fire started due to a wood stove flue (chimney) being installed incorrectly. Once the firefighters got on scene, they were able to quickly get the fire under control. There was no major damage, and no one was harmed. During the first week of the new year, Moorcroft and surrounding areas were in a winter weather advisory. However, the storm brought little snow and plenty of ice, wind, fog, and low tempera-tures. On Dec. 31, officers were dispatched to a residence for a domestic assault. The individual involved was found outside waiting for the officers and placed in custody. A snowplow making its rounds on U.S. 14 west of Dayton was hit on Saturday. The driver of a Honda CR-V lost control on a turn while heading east and hit an oncoming WYDOT snowplow. The plow truck was performing a shoulder cut on the westbound lane when the crash occurred.
