    Moorcroft High School wrestlers held their annual father/son duals on Thursday, December 12, at the Moorcroft Elementary School. High school wrestlers took on either their fathers, mothers, siblings, alumni or friends in a match to start of their wrestling season.     On Saturday, December 14, Pine Haven hosted a Christmas party for children of the community. During the party, children were able to visit Santa, build crafts, play games and enjoy their own decorated hot chocolate. When a child talked to Santa Claus, they were able to take a picture with him. This picture could have been decorated at the craft station by the child.   • Glenn Construction wins bid for MTC remodel

    During the council meeting on Wednesday, December 11, Glenn Construction was awarded the bid to renovate the Moorcroft Town Center (MTC). The renovation when finished will allow the town to enjoy a new town hall and police department. Repairs that were awarded included demo, exterior siding, front door, framing, insulation, interior doors and frames, drywalling, painting, suspended ceiling, flooring, casework, HVAC, electrical and concrete. Not only does Pastor Monte lead the First Presbyterian Church, he is also is involved in the Moorcroft Interfaith Community (MIC), Totes of Hope, Logos, provides food for children in need and the food pantry and is one of the voices of the radio.     During the monthly council meeting on December 10, the Pine Haven Town Council approved the variance request from TMG Investments LLC for Horizon Tower LLC to put a cell tower in their RV park. Present at the council meeting were Horizon tower representatives Josh Leonard, Mike Mateson, Trevor Crow, an independent RF engineer consultant, Steven Kennedy and TJ and Mandi Gideon, owners of TMG Investments.     Moorcroft held their annual parade of lights on Sunday, December 8, with Santa, hot chocolate, cookie decorating and story time also being available. During these events, there was also a light decorating contest. The parade of lights had 20 entries in total, with four of them being placed due to a tie.     The towns of Moorcroft and Pine Haven will soon feel the effects of the loss of the Specific Purpose Options Tax. Known as SPOT, it has been used to raise extra revenue for counties and towns since it was authorized by the legislature in 1984. Crook County voters were asked at this year’s general election to consider another round, which failed with 2027 people voting for it and 2061 against.   • Moore retires as Leader reporter

    On November 26, Grace Moore officially retired from the reporter position at the Moorcroft Leader. Moore started working for the paper in August of 2012. Moore says her most memorable moments are when she won an award from the Wyoming Press Association in 2016 for an unbiased government story and, in the following year, she won the same award.   • Aging infrastructure leads to line break

    During the day of Tuesday, November 26, a water main break occurred on Powder River Ave between the streets of Crook and Goshen. The Moorcroft Public Works employees, with the assistance of Glenn Construction, were able to repair the infrastructure in three and a half hours. Shortly after noon, a concerned citizen reported water bubbling out of the street. Once hearing this report, water was shut off to residences in that area for crews to fix the break.     Pine Haven EMS and Fire is gearing up by training for possible calls during the winter months. On Monday, November 25, Pine Haven EMS held a CPR training, teaching how to save people's lives. Around 12 personnel showed up from Pine Haven Fire and EMS to further educate themselves on saving lives. The goal of the training was to teach firefighters and EMS personnel on what they should do when they arrive at the scene of an accident.     By Many residents of Pine Haven and Moorcroft have received letters stating that their water lines are made of an unknown material. Lead pipes are the main concern, and the letters also mention the harmful effects that can be caused by lead.   • Firefighters tackle coal bin blaze

    During last week's town council meeting, Public Works Director Scott Green informed the council that a fire occurred in the early morning of Saturday, November 9 at the Moorcroft Town Center. According to Green, "The previous morning, the auger for boiler 2 broke." This auger moves coal from the storage bin to the boiler.
