    Cindy Mosteller|Feb 29, 2024

The Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) switched things up this year for the awards ceremony of the Citizen and Business of the Year. The awards are usually given in October but the fall seems to be busy and then the holiday season kicks off. It is later than we anticipated but the Chamber Banquet was held Monday, February 26, 2024. The event was held at MACC's newest member's facility, Keyhole Country Club, where they catered a delicious dinner. Entertainment that evening was by Rocky...

The Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual Christmas Light Contest along with the downtown pole decorating and parade of lights. We expanded the Christmas Light Contest this year to have two categories: residential and business. Our judges drove around, gazed at all the pretty houses and business in the area and would like to recognize Mr. & Mrs. Hacklin for the residential winner. If you were lucky enough to drive by, you had to circle the block because they had decorated every si...

The Moorcroft Historical Society hosted speaker Rick Kaan of Hot Springs, South Dakota on Saturday for a presentation about the trails that brought cattle north and the beginning of the western cattleman's paradise. He started out explaining how influential the civil war was to the beginning of the cattle trails and the beginning of the modern cowboy. The cattlemen of Texas used to sell their stock to the South. When the Yankees took control of the Mississippi River at the beginning of the civil...

The Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce held their first annual Christmas Light Contest. This year's contest had to be themed to a Christmas song/hymn. We had 21 total entries and they were all excellent in their own way. I asked the Lindholm family from Sundance to come and enjoy our lights and pick the one they enjoyed the most. We had judges of all ages! "All the entries were fantastic. It was a very close race for first place and I hope you don't mind but we picked a best business and a best...

West Texas Trail Museum (WTTM), in conjunction with the Moorcroft Historical Society (MHS), held their 11th Annual Heritage Round Up at West Texas Trail Museum on Saturday, September 12. For my first Heritage Round Up, I think it was a notable victory and all proceeds will benefit your historical West Texas Trail Museum, keeping the heritage of Moorcroft and the surrounding area alive and meaningful. It was a great night with kids of all ages – some who haven’t celebrated their first birthdays yet and some who are getting close to that tri...

  • Jubilee celebration

    Grace Moore and Cindy Mosteller|Jul 16, 2020

The threat of the COVID-19 virus affected Jubilee to a minimal extent this year, according to event coordinator and Moorcroft Area chamber of commerce member Cindy Mosteller, who reported a shortage of about 200 guests overall. However, that loss as well as the modified schedule, was not a detriment for the day’s fun as Mosteller later called the 2020 Jubilee a success. The celebration kicked off with the Moorcroft High School Promenade on Thursday evening and the crowning of the King and Q...

The MHS Promenade was held Thursday night with the theme, “Rollin’ the Dice at Jubilee.” The event was postponed from March due to COVID-19. Generous volunteers put forth tremendous effort battling the Wyoming wind to provide a decorated outdoor space to fit the Las Vegas theme. Despite weather woes, Grand March was a great success. Prom Coronation followed Grand March with Christian Robinson and April Miller being crowned the 2020 Prom King and Queen. Prom Court was Parker Seeley, Lizzie Peter...

    Cindy Mosteller|Jun 18, 2020

The second annual Crook County Country Junkin’ Weekend takes you along the Spirit of the Highway, shopping for treasures at many yard sales across the county. It was the vision of a few who wanted to have one weekend where as many people as possible could host yard sales at the same time, making it a thrifty shopper’s ideal weekend. This year we have well over 50 registered vendors and the lists have been posted on the Crook County Country Junkin’ Facebook page. It is a little different this year because we had so many vendors register we co...

4 has been a year filled with unrest. In the spirit of the West and with a Wyoming “can do” attitude, the Moorcroft Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) has decided to go ahead with the time-honored tradition of Jubilee. This is the 55th year of the town’s annual celebration and the Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to making this year the best one yet.
